Once Upon A Tale

Folktales and fairytales are often dismissed as stories created to entertain children and not much else. Created by MPT finalist Gabriele Barysaite, this project Visualizing Lithuanian Folktales explores the deeper meaning behind a popular old tale ‘Queen of Serpents’. On the surface the tale is just an unconventional love story meant to teach children about the forces of nature and loyalty, while under careful analysis it reveals information that dates back to the pagan times and leads to connections with ancient mythologies.
